This is by far the largest and most complex pub sign in the series. Based upon an early 19th century etching, the sign is intended to recall the lively and colorful traditions of English pub sign art dating back more than two hundred years. Details and colors utilized in the horses, harness, and carriage have largely been improvised. The most recent in a series of at least five different pub sign designs, these and others will be marketed by an independent dealer in the Akron-Canton, Ohio area starting in September, 2001. This and the other designs are based on an authentic pub sign brought over from England in 1988 from a pub called the Sherlock Holmes. Additional designs are currently under consideration and will be posted as they are completed. Advanced orders are being taken. Portrait signs will start at $1,095.
